The Allahabad High Court has dismissed the title suit of the Wakf board. There is no dispute on the fact of that it was Ram’s birthplace. The land under Central Dome is the Ramjanmasthan. The land has historically belonged to both Hindus and Muslims.
The Ayodhya land will now be divided into three parts. One third of the land will go to the Sunni Wakf board, one third to the Nirmohi Akhara and the third part to Ram Lalla.
Reactions to the verdict:
The Prime Minister appealed to the people to maintain peace as the status quo on the Ayodhya issue was the correct conclusion. Excerpt from his appeal:
I have full faith in the people of India. I also have full confidence in the traditions of secularism, brotherhood and tolerance of our great country. I know that often it is only a few mischief makers who create divisions in our society. I would appeal to my countrymen to be vigilant and not let such people succeed in disrupting peace and harmony.
“The judgment has reinforced the right of Hindus to build a grand temple at the sanctum sanctorum. It is an important step forward for constructing the temple at the birth place of Lord Ram.”
“It should not be seen as the victory or defeat of anyone but as the triumph of the unity of the country”
“Now that the verdict of the court has come, those who have been parties in the title suit should respect the verdict or aggrieved ones are free to challenge it in the apex court.”
Law Minister Verrappa Moily was today guarded in his response to the Allahabad High Court verdict and said he’d react only after reading the entire judgment.
RSS said the verdict is neither a win or loss: Ayodhya title suit should not been seen as anybody’s victory or defeat and sought people’s support for construction of a Ram temple.
